Meet Margot

Margot is a veteran educator with 27 years of experience as a special education teacher and 11 years as a special education administrator. She has worked with children with school-based disabilities in public schools and private residential treatment in three states, covering grades K-12 and addressing a wide variety of needs. Margot is also well-versed in IDEA (federal special education law) and state level policy.
Following her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia, Margot gained extensive experience with students who have social-emotional and learning challenges. She developed a special interest in children’s reading problems and completed a Master’s Degree in Literacy from Binghamton University.
As her passion for special education grew, Margot became acutely aware of the attrition among special educators and began pursuing a doctorate in education to study the reasons behind this trend.
Margot and her husband, Ron, live on a farm in the Endless Mountains of northeast Pennsylvania. Together, they raise chickens and fiber and dairy goats while maintaining regenerative agricultural practices. When not farming, they enjoy spending time with their five children and eight grandchildren who live across the U.S. and their church family at Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, Pennsylvania.
